My Story

I started playing the piano when I was 7 years old. From my hometown in Leusden, I learned how to play the classics from my excellent and long-time teacher Geanne Dijsselhof. During these years, I played the  classics Preludes by Bach, Chopin's Nocturnes, Debussy on the Ibach piano at home. Later I got acquainted by contemporary, neoclassical music by composers such as Yann Tiersen and Ludovico Einaudi.

During my teenage years, I gained experience with 'playing to serve others' for the first time​. Regularly I played in the church I went to, performing the modern adaptations of the ancient Psalms. It was here that I also learnt the power of chords and improvisation - taking a flight from prescribed, sheet music only and feeling the freedom to create on the go.

Since my Amsterdam period (2018 to date), I developed a pleasure for composing myself. Endowed with a 100-year old, acoustic piano, I increasingly translated the poetry of living into chords and melodies. My music is inspired by fellow Dutch pianists such as Matteo Myderwyk, Wim Mertens, and Douwe Eisenga, but also international contemporary composers such as Ólafur Arnalds, Fabrizio Paterlini, and Philip Glass.
